Prince Philip House reports an astounding 150% increase in revenue

Posted on: December 13th, 2013 by chandco

Our venue Prince Philip House, located on Carlton House Terrace overlooking The Mall, has reported a 150% increase in revenue since it was launched by Prince Philip in October 2012. November represented the most successful month to date for the historic Grade I listed building, marking yet another example of how the events industry is spearheading the economy in London.

Previously relating 60% of business to daytime conferences, Prince Philip House has seen a huge increase in evening events and is now fast becoming one of London’s best fine dining destinations. It has already attracted the attention of high profile companies including Shell, BP, Rolls-Royce and Elsevier Publishing, who have regularly used it during 2013.

“Repeat business is already playing a big part for us in 2014, the Waitrose Christmas showcase will be going ahead again in July and we’re also very excited to be hosting the second installment of Prudential Ride London in August,” said Becci Thomson, Sales and Marketing Manager.

With the addition of new Head Chef Stuart Cooper, Prince Philip House has seen a significant increase in fine dining as well as establishing themselves with an impeccable reputation for private dinners. With a Michelin star background, including stints at Chez Bruce and under Herbert Berger at 1 Lombard Street, Stuart has also worked at other venues in the Harbour & Jones Events venue collection including the Royal Society. Since starting in August he has put his own stamp on the venue by introducing a bespoke 8-course taster menu that can be crafted for anything from 8 to 80 guests.

“We’re currently working on an invite-only fine dining evening in the Spring. We’ll be exclusively inviting a small number of event bookers and showcasing our taster menu but the format of the evening is completely different to anything I have worked on before!”

“Next summer we’ll also be completely refurbishing the kitchen which will give us an opportunity to introduce new equipment and cooking techniques, as well as the possibility of some molecular gastronomy elements,” added Becci.

Also home to the Royal Academy of Engineering, Prince Philip House underwent a£7 million refurbishment and was launched in October 2012 by Prince Philip himself, who is also an honorary fellow of the Academy.

Gaining national press coverage and featuring in the likes of Time Out, GQ Magazine and Vice, 41 Portland Place became one of the most prolific London addresses during July. First event held in Cutty Sark’s Master’s Saloon

Posted on: June 24th, 2013 by chandco

Harbour & Jones Events hosted the first event in Cutty Sark’s Master’s Saloon since the ship re-opened to the public in April 2012. The Saloon was last used by the Master on the vessel’s final voyage as a cargo ship in 1922.

The unique space is located on the top deck and in its previous working life was used by the ship’s master to entertain guests while in port, or to study the charts while at sea.

Starting at 7pm on Tuesday 4th June, guests were greeted with a champagne reception and canapés in the glorious sunshine on the weather deck with expansive views over the Thames.

Exploring its history, curator Jessica Lewis took guests on a tour of the ship’s rich and famed history before seating for dinner in the saloon at 8pm.

Harbour & Jones Events, who also runs the Even Keel café at Cutty Sark during the day, brought in its special event chef, Steve Fitzgerald who cooked up a starter of pea veloute, white truffle and Parmesan crisp, followed by mains of sea trout confit with Dublin Bay prawns and fillet of Aberdeen Angus with oxtail ravioli. Finishing off the meal was new season’s Yorkshire rhubarb, Sauterne jelly with rhubarb juice and mascarpone.

Adding an extra touch of magic, guests were served coffee and petits fours on the weather deck to watch the sun go down over the iconic buildings of Canary Wharf.

The intimate saloon seats a maximum of 10 guests and already looks set to become one of the most sought-after and unique event spaces in London.

Preparation is underway for the Virgin London Marathon, goodie bags are being packed, oranges cut, water bottles filled and last minute preparation runs squeezed in. And at Harbour & Jones Events we’re making plans to ease the aches and pains of 1,000s of runners who will be raising money for good causes such as Age UK and the Alzheimer’s Society.

Our venues, Prince Philip House, Royal Society and Royal Society of Arts, will be transformed into pampering palaces for race goers, with massage rooms to ease aching muscles, delicious fresh food to replenish depleted energy, ice cold water to rehydrate, and even the odd tipple for those who found it all too much!

Good luck to all involved.

Stars Come Out for Our Glamourous THT After Party

Posted on: November 4th, 2012 by chandco

Helping the Terrence Higgins Trust (THT) celebrate the charity’s annual Supper Club in style, H&J were asked to plan a glamorous after party at one of London’s newest and most spectacular venues, One Mayfair. Taking place on October 31, 50 dazzling dinner parties were held simultaneously in some of the UK’s finest restaurants and private residences to raise money for the THT charity. H&J’s events and sales team were also in attendance, taking a table at The Goring. At the end of the meal guests were whisked off in a fleet of taxis to the exclusive after party, ready to be greeted by a team from H&J.

The 450 guests were treated to delicious late night fare and cocktails, which were designed specially for the event, including the Pink Pigeon Rum Swizzler, Blue Disco and Ketel One Flirtini.Dressing the venue in extravagant silks of pink and white, H&J not only expertly styled the event, but also planned every last detail, from the lighting and production to the food and drink.

Guests enjoyed entertainment from DJ Prince Nelly during the star-studded evening, which was attended by Graham Norton, Sue Perkins, Ronni Ancona, Russell Tovey, Tracy-Ann Oberman, Charles Worthington, Dan Gillespie Sells and Matthew Cain.

This year’s event raised more then £90,000 for THT, which supports sexual health and HIV in the UK.
