Harbour & Jones Events sponsors celebrity art event at RSA House to raise over £14,000 for mental health

Posted on: June 23rd, 2014 by chandco

Last Friday (20th June) Harbour & Jones Events teamed up with the Art in a Box project to host a VIP charity art event for 90 guests in the Great Room at RSA House. The evening saw original artwork from a whole of celebrities including Joanna Lumley, Leigh Francis, Chris Martin, Ricky Wilson and Jordan ‘Rizzle’ Stephens, auctioned off to raise funds for mental health charity, Upbeat Music. Guests included industry professionals from the likes of Lewis Silkin and Borough Market.

Kicking off at 6.30pm, guests were greeted with canapés and cocktails that had been created in homage to the celebrity artists including a ‘Bluberry Gin Rizzle’, complete with mini trumpet, and a ‘Bang Tidy Bacardi’, to match the ginger moustache of Leigh Francis.

Guests were seated in the RSA’s impressive Great Room with music from harpist Schrodinger’s Strings, before being served a starter of grilled organic Shetland salmon, broad bean and watercress salad with minted yoghurt and pea espuma and mains of slow cooked feather blade of beef with wild mushroom gnocchi, or duck egg bocconcini with broad bean and garlic roasted pepper tart and summer cress salad.

The auction swiftly followed with an hour of head-to-head bidding, hosted by TV’s Mark Stacey, famous for hosting Bargain Hunt and Flog It!. The evening raised over £14,000 in total with the highest bid going to Grace Slick’s rabbit painting that was bought for £1,350 by comedian Paul Whitehouse, who rang in a telephone bid during the auction.

“It was another fantastic event by Harbour & Jones Events at one of my favourite venues in London. It was a impressive and tantalising menu served amongst some really interesting art pieces,” said Paula King, sales and events manager for Borough Market and owner of P K Events.

“A fun and entertaining evening to support a great cause.”

Guests headed down to the Vaults for Harbour & Jones Events’ signature pudding wall that uses retro printing trays to display a tantalizing array of individual bite sized puddings, everything from homemade Turkish delight and marshmallows to decadent chocolate brownies, meringues and macaroons. Dancing long into the night, guests were entertained by Louis Vause & Friends and The Pat Crilly Band.

RSA House has six elegant event spaces, complete with period features, contact Hannah to organise a show round – 07720 083336.

RSA HOUSE HOSTS ‘YEAR OF THE HORSE’ CHINESE & KOREAN NEW YEAR PARTY

Posted on: February 21st, 2014 by chandco

Last night, Thursday 20th February, RSA House welcomed 100 industry professionals including representatives from Espírito Santo Financial Group, ECL Global, Hillgate Solutions, Deva Events and Pure Consulting to its Chinese & Korean inspired New Year party ‘Year of the Horse’.

Traditional Chinese music played in the background as guests were shown to the Benjamin Franklin room for the New Year party celebrations. The entrance of the room was flanked by plinths decorated with fans and the Chinese character for horse was projected on the floor leading to the room. Inside the Benjamin Franklin room Chinese lanterns suspended from the ceiling, the space was up-lit in hues of red and amber (to represent gold), lucky colours in Chinese culture and an oriental pattern was projected onto the floor creating a warm and inviting party space.

Waitresses in cheongsam dresses and tops (patterned traditional Chinese dress) served guests a selection of Chinese and Korean cuisine including canapés of curried kimchi pancakes, scallop, pickled mushrooms and kimchi. Three food stations were provided including a sushi bar,  street food stall dishing up spicy sticky rice cake, prawn tempura  and seaweed rolls and a  steamed bun a meat stall serving a range of pickles, crispy shredded duck with plum sauce and Teriyaki salmon. Guests enjoyed the Red Lotus cocktail (vodka, lychee & cranberry), peach and lychee bubble tea and Asashi beer.

A cheeky lion dance was performed accompanied by live drum, symbols and gong. Guests also had the opportunity hear their fortunes told and a calligrapher translated guest’s names into Chinese, writing them on a book mark they could take as a keepsake from the evening.

The RSA House event team showed guests around the Great Room, which was set for a theatre presentation and four tables were styled in the four seasons, allowing guests to see how the space could be used to host a variety of events.

Suppliers of ‘Year of the Horse’ included styling by Event Concept, catering by Harbour & Jones Events, entertainment from Sternberg Clarke and floral design by Mary Jane Vaughan.

Cutty Sark

Cutty Sark reopened in April 2012 and truly deserves its place in the Top 20. It has won four prestigious awards, been recognised by Trip Advisor as one of the world’s top 10 attractions, and is applying for a wedding license next year.

Save the Orchards launch event at the RSA

Posted on: June 22nd, 2013 by chandco

We created an incredible pop-up orchard on Wednesday 19th June in the bare brick vaults of RSA House to launch our campaign to save declining orchards to the events industry. More than 190 event industry professionals including representatives from M&C Saatchi, Banks Sadler, DUAL Group, and Industri UK attended.

Giving event bookers the opportunity to sample our new Save the Orchards themed menu, we also launched a new interactive concept – an old fashioned juicer that guests can use to squeeze their own juice and enjoy the sweetness of freshly pressed apples. For every glass squeezed Harbour & Jones Events will be also donating 50p towards saving more trees in their quest to restore 300 orchard trees this year.

Celebration of our 1000th event with ‘All that Glitters Gotta be Glam’ party

Posted on: December 12th, 2012 by chandco

Two hundred esteemed guests from Harbour & Jones Events’ little black book of venues, event agents and corporate clients, including St Paul’s Cathedral, RSA House, Prince Philip House, JM Finn and JWT, descended on the Cutty Sark last Saturday 8th December for a fabulous ‘All that Glitters Gotta Be Glam’ (#allthatglitters) black tie party.

The glamorous affair was to celebrate Harbour & Jones’ 1,000th event and coincided with co-founder Nathan Jones’ 40th Birthday. Creative director Jules Heckman Hughes put the whole event together and was inspired by the glamour of Venetian balls using beading, ostrich feathers and glittered birds to adorn the tables, whilst using lighting effects to colour wash the venue in opulent hues of red and gold.

“We wanted to host the most glamorous affair possible and show our guests what Harbour & Jones Events is really capable of. However it was important for us to be true to the Cutty Sark and show how magnificent the restoration is and what a fantastic space it is for hosting dinner dances,” she said.

“We also used one of the other decks as a chill out bar, complete with Cutty Sark Storm Whisky, and this is the first time this has been done too.”

The menu evoked Jones’ favourite food memories including mini pies and pints (tiny steak and mushroom pies accompanied with a miniature ‘pint’ of beef broth and mushroom foam), foie gras, Welsh lamb and Welsh cheeses. All were accompanied with matching wines for full gastronomic indulgence. This is the first time that an event caterer has hosted both a reception and dinner for 200 guests on the ship.

Jones said: “I’m delighted to share the evening with our accomplishment of reaching 1,000 events. The party shows how far Harbour & Jones Events has come in four years. Not only do we cater in some of London’s most exclusive venues, we now offer a full event management service for clients, from venue sourcing to party styling.”

Entertainment during dinner came from RADA graduates, another of their clients, who sang a mix of show tunes and operatic songs. Post dinner a fabulous ‘Supremes’ band opened with ‘Nathan Jones’ the song after which Jones was named. The soul sisters got the crowd shimmying and shaking to a raft of popular Motown hits. As a finale, famous DJ Slipmatt upped the tempo a few notches with house classics to round the evening off in true Jones party style.

Guests were able to keep up to date with photos and post party news on Twitter by following @HandJEvents and #allthatglitters.

Suppliers of ‘All that Glitters Gotta be Glam’ include production and lighting by Event Concept, floral displays from Veevers Carter and dinner entertainment from RADA graduates.
